Avon Dudmoor
About the venue
Both the Avon Tyrrell and Dudmoor fisheries extend to several miles of bank along the winding course of the Hampshire Avon. There are good barbel, chub, dace, roach and pike in the stretch. For those anglers that put in the time and effort, the rewards can be well worth it.
To get to know the stretch, it may be better to adopt a roving approach at first. Dropping a bait between the ranunculus beds could yield a few surprises. Baiting up several swims with a few free offerings and visiting them in turn could also prove a successful method for a ‘river prince’. Don’t neglect the water under your feet either. The near bank provides a good depth of water and a constant trickle of feed will often draw the fish in to your swim.
