CAC Carp Fishing
Ian Stone Carp Secretary
I have just returned from a 48 hour session fishing at Hucklesbrook and I was extremely surprised and concerned that many anglers were not signing in/making comments in the signing in book which is in the hut and quite clearly marked. I will also add that it’s just not carp anglers doing nights many of the day anglers we’re “ignoring” it also.
Whilst at the lake I did manage to speak to a few of you to try and find out what the problem was with what should be a simple task. You can rest assured that I spoke to seasoned members and new alike.
Firstly most of you did not realise that signing in was actually a regulation for Hucklesbrook in the new club book, it shows that we all need to check the individual regulations of our fisheries from time to time, myself included.
One of your main concerns was that the club “seems” to focus on other areas rather than the parts you are interested in, ie, river, game, match etc.
Can I please confirm that this is absolutely not true and on the committee, with limited time, we all work extremely hard to maintain and develop all areas and interests within the club, be it paperwork on leases, rule books and finance, to cutting grass and trimming trees to maintain the fisheries to the high standard that they are at present.
I would like to suggest that I will put a notebook into the hut at Hucklesbrook for you, the members, to write your longer extra comments in please, feel free to write about what you like or dislike, ideas you have and things you would like to see done differently. Please put your name and number by any comments so I can get back to you. We might not be getting it right all of the time, or you all might be really happy, but unless you feedback, the committee won’t know.
The winter baiting program has now started and I am monitoring how much goes in each week depending on how many people are fishing. From chatting to you on the bank 90% of you are really happy with the program and the way the new fish have progressed over the last two years by increasing their weight.
As a club we can always purchase more stock but are reluctant to do so without good evidence and that comes from you.
So please fill in the comments section with your catches, this helps me build up a long term picture of the size and numbers of fish in the lake, and not just Carp.
Don’t forget the junior carp competition is up and running again so please get your photos and stories into the club before the AGM and you might be collecting a fantastic prize. All information is on the website, notice boards and local Tackle shops. Good luck to all.
On a lighter note whilst at Hucklesbrook last weekend our Secretary turned up, I thought to fish, but no, he was there on cormorant patrol. Is it just me or does anyone else get flashbacks to Gunfight at the ok coral when you see Steve in that hat?!?
Many thanks for the tea made for me by many,
